COVID-19 UPDATE: 23RD APRIL 2020

LEVEL 3

Kia Ora everyone,

We hope this message finds you and your family well. Such an interesting period in our wee time line at the moment! Some of you may have lived through or known people to live through previous pandemics like Polio or the Spanish Flu, and of course WW1 and WW2 were similar in some ways no doubt.

After 4 weeks we know that some of you may now be feeling the pain of cancelled or postponed appointments. Thankfully at Alert Level 3 we will be able to help those who are in need of our services.

The pandemic challenge has forced us to think and work differently. During Covid-19 Lockdown Level 4 we were advised to close our doors by the Ministry of Health. With moving in to Level 3, we may be able to “see” people, whether in person in urgent matters or via telehealth.

Safety First!

Our first priority is keep our staff and our patients safe from Covid-19. To do this we have changed the way we practice at Level 3 and possibly at Level 2 as well. Your appointment will look different.  We will be functioning as efficiently as possible to limit contact but will promise to provide you with the very best service we are known for. Rest assured we are doing everything we can to make your experience as safe and as enjoyable as possible.

Urgent Appointments at Level 3

At Alert Level 3 we are able to deliver vital services to those of you who have been waiting to be seen and need urgent care. Our podiatrists will be wearing PPE to reduce risk and a higher standard of cleaning between patients will be undertaken. Urgent care appointments will be those that are at risk of developing infections or ulcerations or wounds. These patients may be able to see us in person at Level 3.

Remote Consultations for all else

During lockdown at Alert Level 3 we will be providing Remote Consultations via phone or video. This enables us to connect with you from the comfort of your home.

We provide professional podiatry advice just like you would receive during a face to face appointment at one of our clinics. We can deliver orthotics, modify/adjust them for you while in isolation at Level 3.

Phone Call Away

Our team are here to answer your calls and can easily guide you on how we can help during Alert Level 3. We look forward to seeing you either online or in clinic – please be assured that we will be smiling behind the masks.

Stay safe and Kia Kaha!

Keep reading below for how Remote Consultations will look!

What foot problems are appropriate for a remote consultation?

  • Problems which are causing you pain or discomfort
  • Thick/difficult nails or hard skin concerns
  • Foot problems relating to your foot health if you have medical conditions such as diabetes

What does a remote consultation look like?

  • Remote consultations can be either video call or a phone call
  • You can choose a time that suits you (during our standard work hours)
  • Discuss any concerns you are having with your feet or legs (as you normally would in a face to face consultation)
  • Your Podiatrist will use this information to diagnose your problem
  • Your Podiatrist will provide you with a home management plan, recommend stretches, exercises, give you shoe advice if needed and provide a pathway for onward referral if required
